First your review of Living with Fine art
This is the textbook chosen for my Art Appreciation class. I have taken (and dropped) the form before and the previous textbook was the standard slow affair. I have to say that I'm rather impressed past this volume, enough and then that I may not desire to part with it at the finish of the semester (fifty-fifty though I could apply the coin). It is aesthetically pleasing; it's deplorable how many art textbooks exist that aren't. The chapters are amazingly to-the-betoken, without needless repetition, summarizations, or stop-of This is the textbook chosen for my Art Appreciation class. I have to say that I'm rather impressed by this book, plenty and so that I may not want to part with it at the end of the semester (fifty-fifty though I could use the coin). It is aesthetically pleasing; it'due south pitiful how many fine art textbooks be that aren't. The chapters are amazingly to-the-point, without needless repetition, summarizations, or end-of-chapter questions. As a pupil, possibly I might find such things of utilize, but unnecessary when the affiliate itself is interesting enough that I don't immediately seek out a shortcut. Art form required reading and I have to say it was very well written, engaging, and made this business major enjoy learning and reading nigh art.
I have worked with a lot of art history books, but I had to try to teach from this one. Information technology has no lodge to it. It just flops any it wants in with whatever else. Every bit an adjunct instructor I did not appreciate how information technology was structured at all. two.5. I'm being generous with that.
And let's not forget all disciplines are required to accept it. Some ppl aren't fine art ppl. So why non start with cave drawings and build ... and then then in an interesting way...
anyway. Not my favorite for instruction or reading. I accept worked with a lot of art history books, but I had to try to teach from this one. It has no society to it. You lot'd think an art history volume would have color, merely everything in this is white 🤔
I have had zero time for fun reads, it'southward trip planning and school. This is 1 of the ones the gets looped into school. I gave it ii stars because I experience like I tin't objectively say like "oh hey this is horrid and I hate information technology", fifty-fifty though, that would be a valid statement. It's very dry, but I'm non an art major, I take no pursuit in going further on art report than what I have to. I take my artists that I enjoy and those I stumble into but I don't make a hobby out of fine art history. Information technology'due south not my thi I have had zero fourth dimension for fun reads, it's trip planning and schoolhouse. This is one of the ones the gets looped into schoolhouse. Its a text book so it isnt as entertaining as some books might exist. Yet i did savour it and how they had sidebars about artists and movements that were central. Pictures of the art was great.
Excellent overview of techniques, styles, and periods.

This was really a very good read, for a textbook. Data presented in a concise and hands absorbed manner. Smashing pictures throughout!

Excellent basic text for art history, peculiarly for someone unfamiliar with the area of study.
Read for an intro to art college class. The form skipped a few chapters, simply I really enjoyed this book and this course.

This book gives a condensed simply great history of art. I enjoyed reading (and taking the class). Textbook. Skipped a few chapters non assigned.

Read this textbook for a college Fine art History class. Some of the chapters elevate on with so much info doping. Nonetheless this was all the same a skilful art volume with clear images.
I had to used this book for my Art 100 course at #EssexCountyCollege. The pictures weren't big enough. I, likewise, had to read this for schoolhouse. I did not have to read embrace to embrace but well-nigh xc-95% is a good estimate. My appreciation for art has grown from "this is actually cool" to paragraph descriptions! I love fine art and I have thoroughly enjoyed this class. I, too, had to read this for school.
